Me and the little lady just viewed the straight to DVD Futurama movie Bender's Big Score, which was superbly better than many of the other straight to DVD movies I rent on frequent occasion. And this one doesn't come in a black bag, wrapped up in shame, packaged with regret. But it was a good old, time traveling, universe alternating, niblonian shattering movie that was fun for the whole family. I won't spoil any elements of the plot here, but Futurama definitely proves itself to be one the most well written, beautifully animated, and hilarious cartoon that has ever been on tv. The story is layered, funny and stays completely in tune with the original show, complete with cameos by nearly every character who was ever in the show, including my personal favorite Barbados Slim.

BUY IT!!!

I'll even go so far to say that this movie was a lot better than the Simpson's Movie; It looked better, was much more fun, and didn't seem as forced. Don't get me wrong, I liked the Simpson's movie, but watching Bender's Big Score just made me feel a little more complete afterwards.

My favorite part of the entire film has to be the way they explain why and, more importantly, who canceled the show. There is obviously no love lost between the show and the Fox executives, which is also made painfully obvious in the audio commentary and in the cast-comic-book-reading special featurette. While not as many special features as I had hoped, I'm looking forward to the next 3 installments that are due out in the next few months.

The Bispectacult - Special Episode - Attack of the Sterling (Part 1)

The Bispectacult - Special Episode - Attack of the Sterling - Part 1

Yes! It's finally here! Dug out from the deep depths of Dafna's ancient, sputtering hard drive, unleashed upon YOU, genteel and discriminating listener, to decipher and fear.

Mike Sterling of Progressive Ruin graces us with his presence, his staggering intellect and his endless good will. Answering our clumsy inquiries, Mike reveals the origins of his blog, his plans for the future, and how he manages to stay so damn dapper.

If you're into burly bearded men, Kid Chris and Mike Sterling are your guys, and Dafna, your graciously bearded women. Welcome to The Roadhouse! Or The Bispectacult. Whatever works for you, bro.

(Apologies to Grandma Sterling, Kid Chris really wasn't fellating the microphone, he was only checking to see if it was still on. It was. Apologies to the rest of the internet.)

It is true, I learned it from the internets.

That's why we celebrate Channukah.

Dean Trippe linked to the fantastic John Campbell, over at his livejournal. I know I'm probably late to the party, but the recent spate of strips have been fantastic.

Go, go read them. Now, if you please.

The latest podcast is (shoddily) edited and will be put up soon. I'll put it up on the iTunes feed and will put together the show notes as quickly as possible, I just want to get it out there. Also, be on a look out for our (belated) interview with Mike from Progressive Ruin, Kid Chris had edited it, therefore it's polished and doesn't sound like poo.

EDIT: Argh. Weird compression issues and I left the mac with the GarageBand files at work. Show notes are mostly typed up and episode will go up tomorrow. If I don't kill myself first. Dammit Chris, how did you manage this before?
